Friends of Columbus Park of Roses:

The Rose Foundation

The Columbus Park of Roses Foundation is a not-for-profit philanthropy formed to benefit and support the Park of Roses above and beyond the ups and downs of municipal budgets. It was initially incorporated in 1968 and became a 501(c)(3) corporation in 1986. The need for this organization became apparent when, after a particularly hard winter, thousands of roses needed to be replaced and doing so was not in the City’s budget. The Rose Foundation stepped forward and funded the replanting in the Park.

Over the years, the Rose Foundation has received significant contributions from bequests left by rose and garden lovers, people who knew and loved the Park of Roses. Hundreds of individual donations are made every year from all over the United States, allowing the Rose Foundation to continue its support of this world class rose garden.

In addition to purchasing new roses for the Park, significant Rose Foundation projects have included development of both the Heritage and Earth-Kind Gardens for educational and demonstration purposes, renovation of the Volunteers' office, placement of teak and stone benches throughout the Park, bird seed for the bird feeding program, and funding seasonal garden workers to supplement the City’s garden staff. All contributions to the Rose Foundation are tax deductible.
